My family's winemaking heritage dates back to 1783 - the small Rheinhessen Village of Dalsheim in Germany. The Schales family has the rather notable history of having 8 consecutive generations of Winemakers in the family.

As fascinating is the recent discovery that Stefanie's [nee Frank] family history dates back to 10 generations. The number of generations might even be longer, however historical records in her home town had been affected by water damage, and so the records stop at 10 generations.

Fueled by an entrepreneurial spirit, and a desire to make our own statement in the wine world, we emigrated to British Columbia with our young family in 2003. We knew that the burgeoning Okanagan Valley was destined to become our new home. We immediately set our sights on a unique operating vineyard property on Rolling Hills Road in Okanagan Falls that had all of the perfect attributes for winegrowing the varietals that we treasured: Riesling, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris.

In 2007, we acquired an additional vineyard property in Summerland. This has enabled us to expand our vineyards into the "red" direction, with Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Syrah grapes already planted on site.

We look forward to perfecting our craft with every successive vintage, with the next generation alongside.
